Here at Eustace Consulting, we’re avid users of both salesforce.com and slack. We’ve written a bunch of custom integrations ourselves but have stumbled upon a very robust app called troops.ai
Troops.ai has many features. One, is the simple ability to query salesforce by using the /troops companyname or /troops contactname. What I’ve found to be the most powerful usage of this is that it will return all related objects containing that searchable word, and let you interact with it by clicking buttons as shown below:
Keep in mind troops.ai will let you configure up to 6 objects with the free model. Each of these objects has its on configurability for what is returned as shown here. Super slick!
On top of all this, reports can be configured and returned right within the slack interface. You can also schedule reports to be delivered at a certain time on certain days. Here’s an example of what a salesforce report output looks like in slack
There is a paid model available, but we have not yet tried it out. We have a meeting scheduled with the team next week to review the new functionality, and will ensure we post an update with what features are available in the premium model.
