How We Accidentally Became a HubSpot Platinum Partner

We didn't set out to level up our partner tier. We just wanted to fix an annoying problem.

That's the honest version of how Eustace Consulting recently earned Platinum Partner status with HubSpot — and it happened almost as a side effect of building something else entirely.

The Problem We Actually Set Out to Solve

Box and HubSpot don't talk to each other as well as they should. Anyone who's tried to manage files, contracts, or documents across both platforms knows the friction: clunky workarounds, manual uploads, broken links between records and content.

So we built SparkGrid's Box Connector to close that gap — a clean, purpose-built integration that lets Box and HubSpot actually work together the way users expect.

That was the whole goal. Nothing about "partner tiers" was on the roadmap.

Solving It Right Meant Going Deep

Here's the thing about building a real integration instead of a quick hack: you can't cut corners. Making Box and HubSpot work together securely meant getting serious about architecture, data flows, and — maybe less excitingly, but just as importantly — compliance.

That work eventually led us to SOC 2 Type 1 certification, which we locked down this past March. That meant formalizing a lot of things smaller integration builders often skip:

  • AES-256 encryption for data at rest
  • TLS 1.2+ for data in transit
  • Documented controls around access and change management
  • A clear-eyed accounting of every subservice provider in our stack

One detail worth calling out: the Box Connector doesn't store customer files at all. That single design choice simplified our risk surface considerably and made the compliance story a lot cleaner to tell.

Compliance as a Side Effect — and a Catalyst

None of that compliance work was strictly required to ship a working product. We could have gotten away with less.

But doing it right turned into something unexpected: it gave us the credibility to take on bigger, more complex, more security-conscious HubSpot engagements. Clients who care about where their data lives and how it's protected started taking us more seriously — not because we said the right things, but because we could show the work.

That credibility compounded. More complex engagements. Deeper HubSpot services work. A broader footprint in the ecosystem.

And apparently, that's what it took to land Platinum.

The Real Lesson

What started as "let's fix this one annoying Box-HubSpot problem" turned into a full expansion of our HubSpot consulting capabilities — backed by real compliance rigor, not just marketing language.

Sometimes the best growth isn't the growth you plan for. It's the growth you build your way into by solving a real problem well, and doing it right the first time.

We're excited for what's next.
